Death Sucks

A family of vampire morticians keep their funeral home open through weekly murders, until their human intern arrives and turns their undead world upside down.

DEATH SUCKS is my first-ever sitcom, complete with a finished pilot and the bare bones of nine other episodes to round out the season. The focus in this half-hour, streaming-service-fitted show is dark humor and vampiric activity.

This idea came to me a while before I began writing the pilot. I love the idea of vampires acting like you and me. Goofing off, trying to enjoy their 20s… The fact that they own a funeral home was just the icing on the cake. When I pitched this idea to my friends and classmates, they all loved it. When I topped it off with the killer name, it became comedy gold.

After researching the history of vampires and providing my own twist to the legends, I was ready to tackle this story and bring it to life.

We are all familiar with the almost-too-serious shows containing vampires and forbidden love, but what about a show where we get to experience vampires go through real life with real jobs? This vampire family functions like your ordinary American dream team, but, well, they drink blood. Oh, and they murder people to keep their business afloat. Did I mention a human intern may ruin their operation?

A father and his three children struggle to keep their undead identity hidden from their town while running their own funeral home. Then, the living world tests their ability to blend in when an intern joins their crew for the time being. Will they kill her, or keep her on board? Will she find out their deadly secret?
