About Me

BIO

My name is Kirsten Koedding. I collaborate with fellow screenwriters and filmmakers to create fresh ideas, smart storylines, and hilarious content. Comedic writing is the focus of my expertise. As a bred filmmaker, I dabble in directing, cinematography, photography, editing, and playwriting. In fact, one of my ten-minute plays was produced Off-Broadway in New York City of April 2019 during the New Play Festival. As a result of my work, I have made people laugh more, intrigued more audiences, created more content out of my comfort zone, and have taken into account what more people would want to see. On a personal note, ever since I was able to read, I wanted to tell my own stories. Looking back at that time in my life, who would’ve thought I would get to do exactly that for the rest of my life, and love every second of it?

Joke’s on You, I Love What I Do…

"Oh you're funny? Tell me a joke!" I only tell jokes for my career, not for fun. Well for fun, but not for you, Jimmy.

Do you get annoyed when people assume you can tell jokes on command? No? You've never experienced that before? Well, when you're the resident "funny friend" of all your friend groups, you get used to the feeling.

It's not that I don't enjoy the fact that they all think I can pull a joke out of who-knows-where. In fact, I love it. Yet, can anyone really make something that clever appear out of nowhere?

Who am I kidding, I can. I am the person that would be able to do that. Thanks to my friends who nag about making them laugh on command, and cheer me on when I do, I have grown into someone who can handle a scenario like this one.

This kind of questioning prepares you and continues on into your professional career. It is now that you begin to use this spotlight pressure from the past to your advantage.

Ever since I was little, I loved making people laugh. I always knew I had a knack for telling stories, and funny ones at that. It wasn't until I got to college that I really began honing my craft and focusing my efforts into the realm of comedy more than before.

Getting to make people crack up, either with me or at me or my content, is what I want in life. The satisfaction of having someone laugh so hard they snort or fall to the ground, silently laugh-heaving like a cat coughing up a hairball, is an adrenaline rush. A rush of satisfaction and appreciation for the human mind’s sense of humor.

Being funny is a blessing and a curse. People asking you to tell jokes on the spot, or questioning what you are going to do for a career can get tiring after a while. On the bright side, I know I can make the questioner laugh with my quick and trained wit. I know this “gift” will get me far in the entertainment business. Luckily, I'm okay with the creative burden.

This is why I chose the career path I am currently embarking on as my college years come to an end. I can confidently say that yes, I am the “comedian friend” for a reason. As a screenwriter and filmmaker, comedy is my specialty. I write with comedic intelligence and a glint in my eye that makes my fellow writers wonder where my oddly fresh ideas come from. I love concocting comedy, and know this talent should not go unnoticed.

So yes, Jimmy, I will tell you a joke, as long as you promise to laugh as hard as you can.
